Punjab approves 7 uplift schemes

LAHORE

The Punjab government approved seven development schemes of various sectors with an estimated cost of Rs14.731 billion.

These schemes were approved in the 23rd meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2015-16 presided over by the Punjab Chairman P&D Board Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan. Provincial Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, members of the Planning & Development Board, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.  According to Spokesman for P&DD, the approved development schemes included: Water Supply Pipeline Extensions Proposed on the existing schemes, District Bahawalpur at the cost of Rs713.670 million, Project Preparation for Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Investment Programme (PIAIP) (PC-II) at the cost of Rs1.017 billion, construction of Papin Dam, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi at the cost of Rs6.023 billion, widening/improvement of road from Kadhala to Malki via Aach to Ghulam Chowk to Kharana Tehsil Kharian, Gujrat at the cost of Rs295.790 million, widening/improvement of Lahore-Jaranwala-Faisalabad, Jhang-Bhakkar-Darya Khan Art-3 road (Revised) at the cost of Rs2.116 billion, construction of high level bridge over River Jhelum at Langarwala Pattan to Sahiwal in Sargodha and Khushab at the cost of Rs2.195 billion and construction of road and high level bridge between District Mianwali and Jand (District Attock) (Revised) at the cost of Rs2.367 billion.
