PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Sunday said that provincial government had approved Rs60 billion for communication schemes in the whole province this year and no new scheme of road construction would be considered until the ongoing projects were completed.
He, however, said that link roads in Chitral city would be improved in the current financial year as roads in all the major cities were being rehabilitated under the urban uplift programme.
Talking to a delegation from Chitral, Pervez Khattak announced that people of natural calamities-prone areas of Chitral would be given residential plots in the proposed housing colony to be established at a safer place.
The delegation, led by Member Provincial Assembly Fauzia Bibi, called on the chief minister here. The high-ups of the departments dealing with the rehabilitation of earthquake and flood-hit areas of Chitral were also present.
The chief minister said he had issued orders for setting up a university in Chitral and departments concerned had been asked to expedite progress on this project which would help the people of the remote Chitral district to have the higher education facilities in their home district.
He assured that the Chitral roads and other earthquake and flood-affected infrastructure facilities would be rehabilitated.
Assuring to visit Chitral for reviewing the uplift and rehabilitation projects, Pervez Khattak said that he had also directed three provincial ministers to visit Chitral to listen to the problems of the people and take necessary measures to solve them.
He also sought progress report on Chitral University, Qaqlasht Housing Scheme, Irrigation Water Channel, Atakhalt-Wirinjune Road, Ayun-Bamburet Road, Chitral-Garam Chashma Road, Rescue 1122 service, Working Women Hostel, repair of Reshun Hydropower Station and some other projects of Chitral.
