Hockey semis, final to be played in daytime
KARACHI: The final and the semi-finals of the National Championship at the Hockey Club of Pakistan, which had been planned to be held under floodlights, will be played at daytime.
Tournament Director Olympian Qamar Ibrahim said on Friday that some technical faults were detected before the quarter-finals and those could not be repaired in time.
“Our technicians worked round the clock to repair the faults but found it hard to complete their work in time,” he said.
According to the new schedule, the first semi-final, between Army and WAPDA will be played at 1 pm on Saturday (today).
National Bank of Pakistan president Iqbal Ashraf will be the chief guest on the occasion.
The second semi-final, between Pakistan International Airlines and National Bank of Pakistan, will be played at 3:30 pm today. Collector Customs Tariq Huda will be the chief guest on the occasion. The final will be played on Sunday (tomorrow) at 3 pm.
