NCHR takes action against HR violations
ISLAMABAD: The National Commission on Human Rights (NCHR) has taken action against a number of human rights’ violations and sought reports from the federal and provincial government departments concerned.
In the first phase, the commission has summoned secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs, secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), high officials of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and commissioner Rawalpindi today (January 8), says a press release.
The three-member bench of the commission, comprising Chairman NCHR Chief Justice (R) Ali Nawaz Chowhan, member (ICT) Ch Muhammad Shafique and member (KPK) Dr. Yahya, will hear the cases.
Earlier, the commission served a notice on the Ministry of Religious Affairs seeking a detailed report on the Mina stampede during Haj last year in which over 100 Pakistanis were martyred. The commission also sought a detailed report on the difficulties facing the pilgrims.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division will submit a report on distribution of funds for the development of Kotli Satian.
The NCHR also asked the authority concerned about deforestation in Kotli Satian.
The officials of FDE will apprise the commission of the issue of suspension and non-payment of salaries to 2,000 teachers working at the federal and model educational institutions on daily wages.
