Four of a family killed as van hits trailer

KABIRWALA: Four members of a family were killed and six others injured when a van collided with a trailer on M4 near Makhdoompur Interchange on Friday.

A police spokesman said that the van was going to Karachi when its driver slept and it collided with the trailer from behind. As a result, Shabana Saleem (45), Ahmed Saleem (26) and Noor Fatima (1) were killed on the spot while Iqra Farooq, Faria Farhan, Ghazala Farooq, Kiran Farooq, Kanwal Farooq, Jan Muhammad and Abdul Qadoos were injured.

The injured people were shifted to the THQ Hospital where Iqra Farooq died while the condition of the driver is stated to be critical.

“I was going back to Karachi with other family members after visiting the northern areas. I was jolted out of my sleep with a big bang.

I can’t recall what followed as I found myself in the hospital,” Abdul Qadoos, an injured, told newsmen in the hospital. Meanwhile, DC Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi visited the hospital and inquired after the injured people.

Man killed over enmity: A 56-year-old man was axed to death over an old enmity here on Friday. Reportedly, Zulfiqar invited Bashir Ahmed to his home. When Bashir came to his house, Zulfiqar allegedly axed him to death.

The police have arrested the accused and shifted the body to a morgue for autopsy.
