Tahir Ashrafi starts meetings with Ulema for religious harmony
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman and Special Aide to Prime Minister Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has started meetings with Ulema by making visits to different cities of the country to ensure religious harmony during Muharramul Haram and resolve issues being faced by religious scholars.
“Efforts are being made with collaboration of the Pakistan Ulema Council and the Muttahida Ulema Board to ensure implementation of the Paigham-e-Pakistan code of conduct, he said following meetings with leading religious scholars in different cities including Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said Ulema across the country have announced supporting the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan for intersect harmony in the country. He said anti-Pakistan elements have designed conspiracies to make instability in the country through sectarian violence and making hateful propaganda against the Pakistan Army. “Ulema and people of Pakistan have always foiled these conspiracies of the enemies of Pakistan,” he said.
He stated the Paigham-e-Pakisran code of conduct has been unanimously signed by thousands of Ulema and non-Muslim leaders across the country. “Implementation of the Paigham-e-Pakisran code of conduct will be made to ensure peace and religious harmony during the month of Muharramul Haram,” he said, adding that no individual, group or organisation will be allowed to damage the sanctity of sacred places of any sect. “The sequence of sacrilegious comments and Takfeer (terming one another infidel) must come to an end,” he said.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has given instructions that the state would protect the rights given to Muslims and non-Muslims under the Constitution of Pakistan. He said there have been no religious killings or riots in the country in the last seven months. “We have to make every effort to eradicate the ideology of extremism and terrorism at every level and have to impart the true teachings of Islam to the young generation,” he said.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has represented the entire Muslim Ummah at all levels on the issues of Islamophobia and Namoos-e-Risalat. No one will be allowed to attack the ideology of Pakistan and Islam. After the month of Muharram, meetings will be held with all NGOs working for inter-faith harmony in the country. “We want peace, tolerance and affection to be promoted and baseless propaganda against Pakistan should come to an end,” he said.
