Beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s National Health Programme have been asked to immediately report any instance of inattention or non-provision of medical services and care promised to the poor through empanelled hospitals of the programme.
Minister of State for Health Saira Afzal communicated this message on Wednesday to beneficiaries by making random calls to several patients currently under treatment in empanelled hospitals. She inquired after their health and the quality of treatment being provided to them. One of the patients Kausar Bibi expressed satisfaction.
Talking to the media, the need for stringent monitoring of the programme was stressed. Saira promised to personally visit empanelled hospitals to observe various challenges and the performance of personnel involved in the programme and the management of respective hospitals. She raised her pet slogan of zero tolerance to slackness or under-performance by any official, and vowed stern action against anyone creating impediments in programme implementation.
Saira instructed the hospitals to take all possible measures to provide quality services to poor beneficiaries.
