Mepco to buy electricity to overcome energy crisis

MULTAN: A 2.82 Megawatt agreement was signed between the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) and the Punjab Power Development Company to overcome energy crisis.
Speaking on the occasion, Mepco Chief Executive Fazlullah Durrani said that the Punjab government had planned to establish small hydel projects at canals that would help curbing the energy crisis. He said that the federal government was working on power crisis issue on emergency basis, which include hydel, coal, gas, LNG, air and solar energy projects. The energy crisis would be solved in the coming years, he claimed. Punjab Power Development Company Chief Executive Ehsan Majid said that the Punjab government was going to establish 2.8MW hydel energy project on Pakpattan Link Canal. The energy produce from the project would purchase by the Mepco, he informed. The electricity generated from the project would include in the system through Pakpattan Grid Station. He said that Rs 82 million would be spent on lying down 14km long transmission line from Pakpattan Grid Station.
