Minister seeks ulema’s role in peace, harmony

LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Syed Saeed Al Hassan Shah has urged the scholars of different schools of thought to play an effective role in forging peace and harmony in the country.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday along with scholars from all schools of thought after reviewing arrangements for maintaining law and order and sectarian harmony in the province, he asked the leaders of different schools of thought to shun petty differences and work for maintaining peace and inter-sect harmony which, he emphasised, was the need of the hour to save the country from enemy conspiracies. The minister said enemies of Muslims were working to instigate strife on the basis of petty differences. He said a delegation of noted Ulema led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad would visit Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan Division. Besides, he said, Maulana Ramzan Sialvi would lead a delegation to Gujranwala and Rawalpindi Divisions. Another delegation led by Maulana Ishaq Saqi would visit Faisalabad and Sargodha divisions.

Security: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) will install more than 600 cameras to monitor the procession routes on 9th and 10th Muharram in different parts of metropolitan city.

This was informed by MD PSCA Rao Sardar Ali Khan during a meeting held at Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by CCPO, DIG Operations and other officers of the Lahore police. The MD while presiding over the meeting said that Punjab Safe Cities Authority has started security arrangements for Muharram. COO informed the meeting that monitoring of mourning processions will start from the beginning of Muharram through surveillance cameras.
