PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Muazzam Jah Ansari on Friday said foolproof security arrangements would be put in place for Muharram.

He said this while talking to a delegation of Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqh-e- Jaffaria (TNFJ) that called on him at his office here.

The TNFJ delegation comprised of TNFJ KP chapter president Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, Syed Azhar Ali Shah, senior vice-president TNFJ Maulana Malik Ijlal Haider, provincial vice-president Zulfiqar Ali Jamil, senior vice-president for Peshawar Johar Abbas and others.

The IGP said being a Muslim, he had great affection and love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his family members and he observed the holy month of Muharram with great reverence.

He said all available resources would be utilised to provide foolproof security to mourners during Muharram processions and Majalis.

On the occasion, provincial senior vice-president TNFJ Maulana Malik Ijlal Haider assured the police chief of full cooperation during the holy month of Muharram and hereafter.

He said the TNFJ was the only religious organisation of the country which was never banned because it believed that there was no divide among Muslims on the basis of sects.

Ijlal Haider requested the police chief to set up a joint cell comprising police officers and all stakeholders well before Muharram to take a prompt action in case of any emergency.

The TNFJ called for strict monitoring of activities of certain banned organisations in the city.
