Consumer court orders tile shop to pay Rs69,000 in compensation
A consumer court on Monday ordered a shopkeeper to pay a compensation of Rs69,000 to his customer for providing him tiles of poor quality.
The judge of the Consumer Court – East observed that in case the defendant failed to pay the amount to the plaintiff, the former may undergo three years in jail along with a fine of Rs200,000.
Khadim Hussain had filed a complaint against a shop, Dilshad Marble, situated in the Nazimabad area for defrauding him by providing poor quality of tiles instead of the better ones he had paid for. The court heard arguments at length from both the sides before drawing a conclusion. In his order, the judge observed that the plaintiff had provided sufficient evidence against the defendant. The copy of the verdict was also sent to the station house officer of the Rizvia police station to ensure compliance with the order.
