JI wants early LB polls to solve people’s problems
LAHORE:Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) naib ameer and Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) secretary-general Liaqat Baloch has expressed sorrow that in the absence of local bodies in the country, shortage of civic facilities like clean drinking water, sewerage, education and health problems are on the rise.
Addressing a meeting with Ulema, local bodies leaders and core committee of JI advisory council here on Monday, Liaqat Baloch said agriculture in rural areas and vast trade, industrial and investment opportunities in cities had been great strengths of the country but were now suffering due to absence of civic facilities and infrastructure. He said JI would raise its voice on public issues in a systematic manner and launch a mass mobilisation campaign for local body and general elections.
Earlier, addressing a delegation of scholars, Liaqat Baloch said Eidul Azha and Eid Ul Fitr are happy occasions for the believers and implementing Allah’s commands at individual, collective and state level is the success of an Islamic society.
Liaqat Baloch said the MYC summit meeting would be held on August 5 to discuss various issues including maintenance of peace and harmony during Muharram. The meeting would formulate a plan of action to protect the Islamic, ideological and constitutional role of Pakistan. The summit will also elect the president, secretary general and key officials for the next three years.
