Sukkur lawyers meet IGP Sindh
SUKKUR: A delegation of lawyers in Sukkur, led by Sohail Memon, Aisha Dharejo, Rizwana Memon and Ali Akbar, met IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar on Sunday.
During the meeting, the lawyers discussed the law and order situation in the city and issues faced by women in the name of ‘honour killing’.They said that ‘Karo Kari’, a shabby tradition, is a major issue faced by women, adding that this issue keeps on claiming lives of innocent women in the city and across Sindh.The lawyers expressed dissatisfaction over the role of police department. They said that the police have failed to take adequate measures to stop incidents of Karo Kari’ and arrest the culprits involved in this crime. They said that it is responsibility of the police to lodge an FIR against the culprits on behalf of the state in case on one is registering an FIR. The lawyers also drew the IGP Sindh’s attention towards the issues such as fake encounters, cases of rape and murder, domestic violence and child abuse.
In the end, the IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar assured them that he would address all the issues raised by the lawyers.
