LAHORE : A ceremony was held here on Sunday to commemorate Gypsy Day 2021 where plight of deprived children was particularly highlighted.
The event was attended by Regional Director, Human Rights, Lubna Mansoor, DG, PILAC, Sughra Sadaf, representatives of welfare societies and other persons concerned. Various stalls were set up by children belonging to deprived sections of society, especially the children living in slums and streets. Masterpieces made by the gypsy children were presented to promote Pakistani culture. Children living in slums also presented various sketches and songs.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Minister Ijaz Alam appreciated the efforts of the institutions concerned in organising the unique event and said it was a commendable initiative to organise such a wonderful programme for deprived children in which they provided full opportunity to show their skills. He said the agenda of the PTI government was to promote culture of education and wanted children out of school should benefit from educational opportunities.
