QWP flays increase in prices of edibles

PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Saturday criticised the government for raising the prices of the daily use commodities and the POL.

Addressing a gathering in Safi tehsil in Mohmand tribal district, he said the government had added to the woes of the have-nots.

On the occasion, several workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People’s Party, including Qari Azizullah, Malik Azam Khan, Malik Tahir Khan, Zarif Khan and others, announced joining the QWP.

Sikandar Sherpao said it was sheer injustice that the government increased the prices of the daily use items, including ghee, cooking oil and sugar, before Eidul Azha.

“This government is least bothered to give relief to the people in the face of backbreaking inflation,” he remarked.

The QWP leader said the price of a 20kg flour bag was increased by Rs150, ghee by Rs90 per kilo while the price of sugar was increased from Rs68 to Rs85 per kilo at the utility stores.

He said the rulers shared wrong figures about the economic growth rate to deceive the nation. The PTI government, he said, had buried the country under huge loans.
