No corona death, 208 cases from twin cities

Rawalpindi : Coronavirus illness, COVID-19 claimed no life from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours though as many as 208 new patients were reported from the region with a positivity rate of well over six per cent showing the outbreak is getting more and more intense.

The population in the region witnessed a day without reporting of COVID-19 death at least after 10 days. It is important that out of a total of 110,012 patients so far reported from the twin cities, 1791 had already lost their lives due to the illness.

It is alarming that in the last 24 hours, the positivity rate of COVID-19 has been recorded as 6.85 per cent in Rawalpindi district that is the highest positivity ratio of the infection from town in the last two months.

In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid informed ‘The News’ on Saturday that out of 1,401 samples tested for COVID-19 in the district in the last 24 hours, 96 were tested positive at a positivity rate of 6.85 per cent.

Data collected by ‘The News’ has revealed that another 133 patients have been tested positive for COVID-19 from ICT and 75 from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours.

From Rawalpindi district, a total of 25,613 patients have so far been reported of which 1,004 have lost their lives while 23,995 have recovered from the illness. On Saturday, there were a total of 614 active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi of which 44 patients belonging to the district were hospitalized in town while 570 were in isolation at their homes.

On the other hand, a total of 84,399 patients have so far been confirmed positive for COVID-19 from ICT of which 81,671 have recovered while 787 have lost their lives. On Saturday, the number of active cases from the federal capital jumped to 1,941 after the addition of 32 active cases to the existing pool.
