Suspect ‘stabs himself to avoid arrest’

A suspect on Saturday allegedly injured himself with a sharp weapon in a bid to avoid police arrest.

According to police, the injured suspect was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police station. He was identified as Wilayat Khan, son of Habibullah.

SHO Muhammad Shahid said the suspect was arrested red-handed while he was carrying out a robbery in the area and offered resistance when the cops tried to apprehend him.

In a bid to avoid arrest, he stabbed himself with a sharp weapon that he had, the officer said, adding that police had not injured him.
