Woman burnt alive by husband in Elite Town

LAHORE : A 36-year old woman, mother of four, was burnt alive by her husband in Elite Town, Old Kahna area, on Friday. The victim has been identified as Naila. Accused Zubair killed his wife and concealed her body in the house. The accused was stated to be a drug addict and used to demand money for drugs. On the day of the incident, the accused subjected the victim to severe torture and later burnt her alive. The victim’s family accused Zubair and victim’s other in-laws of being involved in the murder. Police removed the body to morgue.

Three suspects held: CIA Sadar arrested three alleged robbers and recovered valuables and illegal weapons from their possession. The accused were identified as Jamal, Nazam and Ashraf. Meanwhile, South Cantt police arrested a foreigner and recovered 1kg charas from his possession.

suicide: A 22-year old youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a rope in the Nawab Town area on Friday. The victim identified as Asif was living in a hut he set up in an empty plot. The body was shifted to the morgue by Edhi Ambulance.

Fire: A fire broke out in a bank at Liberty Market on Friday. Cause of fire was said to be a short-circuit in an airconditioner. On being informed, the firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

accidents: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 998 road traffic accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In these accidents, eight people died, whereas 1,019 were injured. Out of this, 595 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 424 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Man held: Police arrested an armed man at the entrance of Sessions Court Judges Gate on Friday. The accused Muhammad Qasim was arrested and shifted to Islampura police station. A pistol, two magazines and eight bullets were recovered from the possession of the accused.

Boys traced: Lahore Police traced two boys and handed them over to their parents. Samanabad Investigation police traced an eight-year old boy and handed him over to his parents. The boy was identified as Muhammad Irfan. Similarly, Gulshan Ravi investigation police traced a 14-year old Waqar Farid and handed him over to his heirs. Both the boys were lost on their way back home. Their parents got registered kidnapping cases in the police stations.

electrocuted: A 36-year old woman received burn injuries after she came in contact with a high voltage wire in Badami Bagh area on Friday. The injured woman was identified as Fatima who had thrown water on a high voltage wire, upon which she received serious burns. The injured woman was admitted to hospital.

gunned down: A man and a woman were killed in a firing incident in Lakhodair Manawan on Friday. The victims have been identified as Maqsood and Nusrat. The victims were on their way on a bike when unidentified persons intercepted them and opened indiscriminate firing, killing both on the spot. The assailants escaped from the scene. The bodies were removed to morgue by Edhi Ambulance.
