Rawalpindi : As many as 204 new patients were tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 109537 while one patient died of the illness from the federal capital taking the death toll from the twin cities to 1790.
It is, however, more alarming that the positivity rate of COVID-19 from the Rawalpindi district has been recorded as 5.56 per cent in the last 24 hours that had dropped down to around one per cent some two weeks back. Out of a total of 1,186 samples tested for COVID-19 in the district in the last 24 hours, 66 were reported positive, said In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Thursday has revealed that a total of 1,003 patients have so far died of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district while the virus has so far claimed as many as 787 lives from the federal capital.
As many as 77 patients were tested positive for COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district taking the tally to 25,454 of which 23,937 patients had achieved cure. The number of active cases from the district was 514 on Thursday of which 32 patients were hospitalized in the district while the number of confirmed patients in home isolation was 482.
On the other hand, the virus claimed one more life from the federal capital in the last 24 hours while confirmation of 127 new cases from ICT took the tally to 84,083. To date, a total of 81,508 patients from the federal capital have recovered from the
illness while the number of active cases of the disease from ICT was recorded as 1,788 on Thursday.
