A couple of days after a Filipino woman of Pakistani origin was found dead at her home in the Gizri area of the city, police registered a murder case against unidentified persons based on the medical report of the victim.
The woman, identified as 35-year-old Shella, belonged to the Philippines. She was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a residential apartment near a local eatery in upper Gizri, Clifton, on Tuesday night.
Her body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
The medical report said her neck bone was found fractured during the autopsy, which suggested that she was murdered. Due to this finding, police have registered a case against unidentified persons under the Section 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The case was registered on the request of an employee of the Philippine consulate in Karachi.
According to SHO Pir Shabbir Haider, the victim had moved to Karachi from the Philippines a long time ago and was living in the flat. A relative of hers also used to live in the apartment and she has been included in the investigations.
The officer said that it might be possible that the woman’s neck bone broke after she fell in the bathroom where she was found dead but due to the possibility of murder, police had registered a case. The body was handed over to the representative of the consulate.
