ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) fact finding report alleges over Rs2 billion (Rs2,201,222,482) illegal funding and also details concealment of accounts from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The report was released to the media at a local hotel by the PTI foreign funding case petitioner Akbar S Babar.

The report is based on perusal of PTI records submitted by the ruling party to the ECP in compliance with its order of April 14, 2021.

The perusal of PTI records was conducted by two financial experts Arsalan Vardag, FCA and Muhammad Shoaib, ACA, ACCA.

The PTI records examined relate to the period 2009 to 2013 as per the TOR of the Scrutiny Committee. Earlier in the day, Babar along with his legal team submitted the report before the ECP.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has categorically rejected the report prepared by Akbar Babar and the claims made in it and noted, “Akbar Babar's report is an invention of his mind, a bundle of lies and a desperate attempt to eradicate humiliation.

PTI Central Secretary Information Ahmad Jawad said Akbar Babar was trying his best to avoid the ultimate failure by sacrificing the issue under hearing in the Election Commission to politics.

He alleged Akbar Babar had already wasted seven years of ECP and nation on baseless and fabricated petition. He charged Akbar Babar wanted the commission to take action on the issue in the light of his own wishes instead of the law.

“PTI provides all documents requested by the ECP and its appointed scrutiny committee. PTI submits details of 40,000 donors and all PTI money has come from legal banking channels. PTI did not receive any prohibited funding. In his testimony of false claims against PTI, he has not produced a single piece of paper till date,” Ahmed Jawad claimed.

The PTI voluntarily allowed the petitioner to view his document while Akbar Babar has earlier expressed no-confidence in the committee and later apologized.

“Akbar Babar's press conference today is a shameful attempt to put pressure on the Scrutiny Committee and the Election Commission,” he alleged. “Running here and there and changing the position again and again will not change the lie into truth, nor will the nation go astray by printing rubbish. We will not allow the commission to run away or allow the case to be further adjourned. Adhering to the rules laid down by the commission, every lie of his will be exposed, his intentions will be exposed to the nation,” said Ahmad Jawad.
