Dua offered for legendary star Dilip Kumar

PESHAWAR: Fatiha Khwani was arranged here on the Warsak Road for the late film legend Mohammed Yusaf Khan who was popularly known by his screen name of Dilip Kumar.

The legendary actor of the subcontinent was born in Peshawar city on December 11, 1922 passed away in Mumbai on July 7 at the age of 98, leaving behind a large number of fans to mourn his death.

The dua ceremony was held at the Gulshan-e-Aziz, Warsak Road, Peshawar, the residence of the ruling party Senator Mohsin Aziz who is the son late Haji Aziz Jan, a widely respected businessman and the first cousin of late Dilip Kumar.

The function was attended by the relatives, friends and fans of Dilip Kumar including former president Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Fuad Ishaq, Jamshed Karim, Additional Attorney General Aamir Javed, industrialists and civil society members.

In attendance were also representatives of the Gandhara Hindko Academy, Peshawar, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Nasir Hussain, Nouman Qayyum Awan and others.

Speaking to the media, Senator Mohsin Aziz paid rich tributes to Dilip Kumar for his services in different fields of life and his his great attachment with the city of his birth, Peshawar. He said the legend like Dilip Kumar were born in centuries who was not only an institution for artistes but a down-to-earth personality and a great social worker who made a place in the hearts of people.

The senator, whose family is known for public welfare work under the banner of the Aziz Jan Trust, said the late legend had a great love for humanity and liked welfare of the needy people. Later the participants prayed collectively for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
