PHC CJ inaugurates Bannu Bench building

PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan inaugurated on Monday the newly constructed building, housing the PHC Bannu Bench.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by judges of the PHC, Bannu Bench, officers of the district administration, office-bearers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, High Court Bar Association, District Bar Association, lawyers and media persons.

The Chief Engineer (South) of the Communications and Works Department gave a briefing to the chief justice and the guests about the project which was followed by an inspection of the building.

It was stated that the administrative approval of the project amounted to Rs 950 million while the total area of the building was 27.5 kanal.

The premises, he added, contained three courtrooms with allied offices, a research resource centre, a library, a conference room, bar room, offices of the additional registrar, additional advocate general and attorney general besides residences of the judges.

In his welcome address, the additional registrar, Bannu Bench, thanked the chief justice for gracing the occasion.

The president, Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Bannu Bench, thanked the chief justice as well for attending the ceremony.

The chief justice stressed that judicial autonomy and transparency in the justice system were his top priorities but his concern for the protection of human rights and facilitating the litigants by making less expensive and more expeditious justice available to them was no less important.
