Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Sindh Assembly member Firdous Shamim Naqvi has said it is unfortunate and undemocratic that there is no representation of the opposition parties in the Public Accounts Committee of the provincial assembly.

He said this as he addressed a press conference at the premises of the provincial legislature on Saturday.

Naqvi, who also previously served as the opposition leader of the Sindh Assembly during its current term, said there should have been a debate on the report of the auditor general regarding various schemes, including the establishment of trauma centres, across the province.

“It was decided on the floor of the House in March this year that as many as 41 trauma centres would be set up in different districts of the province keeping in view the situations after heavy rainfall and the subsequent floods,” he said. “But the Sindh government has only set up seven centres out of 24 districts.”

The PTI leader said that in such previously sanctioned schemes, massive malpractices were committed, which exposed the lofty claims of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rulers regarding the healthcare facilities in the province.

He alleged that the PPP rulers had committed massive corruption in every department and deprived people of all the basic amenities of life. He also criticised officials of the education department for their complete failure to contain the use of unfair means during the ongoing examinations.

He said he along with other PTI MPAs would expose the mega corrupt practices of the PPP rulers in the project of the Gorakh Hill Station in their next press conference. PTI parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly Bilal Ghaffar, and MPAs Sanjay Gangwani and Rabia Azfar Nizami were also present at the press conference.
