MANSEHRA: Chairman of the district Zakat committee has terminated an area chairman after the latter allegedly received Rs2,000 to Rs3,000 each from 55 deserving families for issuing their financial assistance cheques under the Guzara Allowance scheme.
“We have started an inquiry into Rs123 million funds being disbursed to 10,247 families across the district following an area chairman got arrested red-handedly while taking bribes for issuing cheques to the deserving families,” district Zakat committee chairman Jabran Malik told a press conference here on Saturday.
