The City police on Saturday killed four gangsters in separate shootouts in Musharraf Colony and Machhar Colony areas.
The deceased were said to be involved in cases of target killings, kidnappings for ransom and extortion.
Contingents of the City police and Mochko police, on prior information, raided a house situated in Godown area of the Sparco Road in Musharraf Colony.
Armed suspects opened fire when they saw the law enforcers approaching their hideout. The policemen retaliated fire and injured two suspects while three others managed fled.
During initial interrogation, the injured suspects stated their names to be Jahangir Baloch and Imam Dost Baloch alias Jahanzeb and admitted that they were affiliated with the Uzair Baloch group of Lyari.
They were being taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi in critical condition when they died.
The police claimed that a pistol and two hand grenades were found in their possession. They said the suspects were involved in the murder of more than 15 people, besides being involved in cases of kidnappings for ransom, extortion and attempted murder.
Meanwhile, another contingent of the Docks police and Mauripur police raided a hideout in Machhar Colony where two suspects were injured while four others managed to escape.
The injured suspects stated their names to be Mullah Naveed and Jahanzeb alias Lamba and declared their allegiance with the Sheraz Comrade group of Lyari. Both men also died on their way to the Civil Hospital Karachi.
