An employee of a catering office was shot dead during a robbery in Block H of Karachi’s North Nazimabad neighbourhood on Saturday, according to an official of the Hyderi police station.
After getting information of the incident, police and rescue workers took the critically injured victim to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was identified as 35-year-old Ali Raheel. He had been shot once in his head and succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The catering company’s owner Abdul Aziz said the deceased was his employee and a father of four children, adding that he lived in Kausar Niazi Colony.
The CCTV camera footage of the incident has also been circulating on social media, showing one motorcyclist clad in shalwar kameez arriving at the office and holding the employees hostage at gunpoint.
Shortly afterwards, three more suspects on a motorbike arrived at the office and started looting cash and other valuables. As the suspects were making their escape, one of them fired a single shot that hit Ali in the head. Police have registered a case and started investigating.
