Electronic voting

The PTI-led government is planning to introduce electronic voting machines (EVMs) to have a fair and transparent election system in the country. However, it is important for the government to look into the fact that our country has a literacy rate of a little above 50 percent. There are so many people who don’t know how to use electronic machines. If we assume that the authorities will ask officers to guide these people, this will be a complete violation of people’s right to privacy -- this right is protected by the secret ballot system.

The government should look into this issue and must come up with some other way to improve the transparency of the election process.
