Health insurance scheme launched in Mardan district
MARDAN: The Khyber Pakhtun-khwa government Friday launched Health Insurance Scheme in the district under its social health protection initiatives.
Provincial Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, along with Minister for Education Muhammad Atif Khan distributed “Sihat cards” to deserving families at a gathering to formally launch the programme.
Under the ‘Sihat Sahulat Programme, cards will be issued to the needy and deserving households. “About seven members of the family will avail free medical treatment facilities of Rs25,000 per head per annum from the nominated hospitals,” Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai told the gathering.
He termed the initiative as a revolutionary step of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government. He said that over 0.4 million people of the district would benefit from the scheme. The scheme was being launched in four selected districts of the province, including Chitral, Malakand, Mardan and Kohat with a cost of Rs1.4 billion.
