PESHAWAR: A minority member provincial assembly (MPA) from merged areas belong to the ruling party, Wilson Wazir, has said the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) must acknowledge efforts of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in bringing transparency, introducing meritocracy and ensuring equal opportunities for religious minorities through proactive reforms, legislations and a system of accountability.
In a statement issued after attending a meeting, he pointed out the provision of five percent quota and two percent admission quota in the educational institutions for religious minorities. He said the government has eased the access of non-Muslim citizens to quality education, due to which literacy rate of minority youth was increasing. The lawmaker said the empowered qualified youth from minorities were now getting high-grade jobs, through five percent minority quota.
Of the opening of cross-border Karatarpur Corridor, the minority MPA added that this historical initiative of the PTI government had not only won the hearts of Sikh community all over the world, but also the visa free-border for Indian Sikh pilgrims had helped in easing the tension between two countries.
Wilson Wazir appealed to the FATF to revisit the status of Pakistan in the coming meeting, keeping in view all the efforts made by the PTI government for the cause.
