Q1: Dear Sir, I am a student of Bahria University, Islamabad. I have studied two semesters with CGPA 3.21. I’m doing Software Engineering and want to know the scope of Software Engineering. I will appreciate your advice on any particular specialisation? (Khazeena Abid, Islamabad)
Ans: Please note that software engineering is a good field. Moreover, if you do a Masters after your current degree it will be very useful and enhance your career prospects. Once you are done with your current degree I will guide you at that point about a few popular and emerging specialist subject areas that will broaden your prospects within software engineering.
Q2: Respected Abidi Sb, I studied honors in Applied Physics with Electronics. The duration of my degree was four years. Please guide me if I’m eligible to apply for Electronics for further studies? (Farhad Dogar, Gujranwala)
Ans: Dear Mr Dogar, with BSc Hons Physics and Electronics you can do masters in Electronics, communication. You can study these degrees here in Pakistan or abroad.
Q3: Sir, my sister passed Human Development and Family Studies BS from a government college. I will appreciate your guidance whether an MPhil would be better for her or she should do CSS? If you think MPhil would be a better choice, then please advise what subject area would be helpful for a successful career (Ghufran Mirani, Karachi).
Ans: Dear Ghufran, your sister is well-qualified to attempt CSS if she wishes to do so and I’m confident that she would pass this exam. Otherwise, if she wants to do MPhil, then she can choose research especially under gender studies.
Q4: Sir, my brother recently passed intermediate (Pre-Engineering). Can you please suggest which Engineering field would be good for him Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or else? What do you think about Air University? I am doing BS (CS) from Comsats. What is your recommendation for Masters and PhD? What university would you suggest for further studies? (Zulkifl Hussain, Islamabad)
Ans: Dear Mr Zulkifl, the most popular engineering these days is Mechatronics or communication and electronics. Regarding your other question, Air University is a good university of PAF and has necessary teaching faculty. Furthermore, you must not think about masters or PhD until you complete yours BSCS with good grades.
