HARIPUR: An activist of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was gunned down here on Thursday, police officials said.
Officials of the Sera-e-Saleh Police Station said that Zia Javed Abbasi, an activist of PML-N and former candidate for district councilor’s seat, had some property dispute with Mansoor, a resident of Lora Chowk area.
Mansoor and his father Saifur Rehman allegedly opened fire at Abbasi when he was on the way home, injuring him critically.
He was shifted to Trauma Centre where he succumbed to his injuries. The motive behind the murder was stated to be a property dispute.
Meanwhile, the family members of the slain activist torched the house of the accused, police officials said.
However, there was no loss of life reported as both the accused and their family had left their home soon after the murder, police officials said. The accused were still at large, they added.
