LAHORE: Afshan Latif, ex-Superintendent Kashana, has been moved to Kot Lakhpat jail from Model Kachehri and her husband Naushad Hameed to Police Station Township. She had been protesting against alleged exploitation of girls living in the shelter home since July 2019 where she was an official and then Superintendent.
The scandal came to the fore in November 2019 when Afshan was threatened with arrest. She released a video that went viral. On February 5, 2020 mysterious death of Iqra Kainaat, a girl who was privy to what transpired at the shelter home added fuel to fire. Her postmortem report revealed she was starved to death. Afshan Latif kept demanding inquiry into the case but it has yet to see the light of the day. She appeared to be the lone crusader.
