KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhail Monday moved an application in a Karachi court against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan for slapping him during a TV talk show. Mandokhail submitted that he, along with, Ms Awan, who is special assistant to chief minister Punjab on information, was invited in a talk show, on a private television channel on June 9. He added that the PTI leader interrupted him while he was giving his party’s stance on a question, asked by the show host on the government policies. He said that she repeatedly did so, though he requested her to speak on her turn. The PPP lawmaker said that later she started maligning the PPP and levelled serious allegations against his party’s top leadership. After that, he questioned Ms Awan about the corruption charges against her.

He said it infuriated her and she started hurling profanities at him and then slapped him during the show while hurling death threats. He mentioned that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s Azma Bukhari was witness to the episode.

Mandokhail said that he went to the Saeedabad police station to lodge the first information report (FIR) against Ms Awan, but the station house officer (SHO) refused to entertain his application. He requested the district and sessions judge west to pass an order to the police to lodge his complaint against the PTI leader. The court is yet to fix the application for hearing.
