Shafqat says fee shouldn’t unfairly burden parents

Islamabad: Federal education minister Shafqat Mahmood has said the fee policy for private educational institutions in Islamabad shouldn't burden parents.

"Make such a fee policy so that parents and children are not unfairly burdened," the minister told Private Educational Institution Regulatory Authority Islamabad chairperson Zia Batool during a meeting in the ministry here on Monday.

The PEIRA regulates privately-owned schools and colleges in the federal capital. Its chairperson briefed the participants on the current and future initiatives for improving the quality of and people's access to education in the private sector as well as fee structure.

Federal parliamentary secretary for federal education Wajiha Qamar, education secretary Farah Hamid Khan and relevant officials attended the meeting.
