5,790 NGOs apply for registration
LAHORE: At least 5,790 non-governmental organizations have submitted online applications for registration in the Punjab Charity Commission (PCC).
A meeting of the Punjab Charity Commission was held on Saturday where the additional chief secretary of the Home Department was briefed that at least 4,632 NGOs have submitted data for verification. The registration of 2861 NGOs was approved by the Punjab Charity Commission. The Data of 179 NGOs is pending for approval. The Punjab government has made it mandatory for all NGOs to register with the Punjab Charity Commission’s online portal. Action would be taken against the NGOs which fail to register within due date. In the meeting Abdullah Sumbal, Azfar Manzoor, Saif Anjum, Shahzad Ameer and Munawar Mali were present. Shahzad Ameer gave a briefing to the meeting. The Punjab government had set up the Punjab Charity Commission under the Punjab Charity Act 2018 to ensure monitoring of the collection of Sadqa and charity.
