Power outages
K-Electric (KE) authorities are continuing their tradition of unannounced loadshedding in the Soldier Bazaar neighbourood of Karachi. Consumers have to live without electricity for hours, and at the end of a month, they receive inflated bills. On Friday (June 18), the area remained without power between 9am and 4pm (no SMS was sent to consumers). On Thursday (June 17) there was no electricity for at least three to four hours.
The authorities need to pay attention to people’s plight. Power companies shouldn’t be allowed to hold a monopoly in a metropolitan city if they aren’t capable of providing uninterrupted power. Since June, residents of Soldier Bazaar have been facing the worst loadshedding. When will the authorities look into this issue? People’s lives come to a standstill because of these unannounced power outages.
