One more dies of corona from Pindi, 42 cases from twin cities

Rawalpindi : Another confirmed patient of coronavirus illness, COVID-19 died of the illness from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the district to 989 while the virus claimed no life from Islamabad Capital Territory on the third consecutive day though a total of 773 patients belonging to the federal capital had already lost their lives due to COVID-19.

As many as 42 new patients have been tested positive from the twin cities in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 106,930 of which 1762 patients could not survive.

The positivity rate of COVID-19 has jumped to 3.14 per cent in Rawalpindi in the last 24 hours with 27 patients reported positive out of 858 tests conducted, said In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid. He said of 27 patients who tested positive in the last 24 hours, 17 were from Rawalpindi district.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Friday reveals that from Rawalpindi district, a total of 24652 patients have so far been reported of which 23,468 have recovered from the illness. There were a total of 195 active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi on Friday of which 14 patients belonging to the district were undergoing treatment at different healthcare facilities in town while some 181 were in isolation at their homes.

Meanwhile, another 25 patients have been tested positive from ICT in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 82,278 of which 80,289 patients have achieved a cure. On Friday, the number of active cases from the federal capital dropped to 1216 after the recovery of 73 patients in the last 24 hours.
