Three, including man and nephew, drown

A man and his nephew drowned in the sea while picknicking at French Beach in the city on Friday. In a separate incident, a teenage boy drowned in a pond in the Keamari area.

Those who drowned while picknicking at the beach were identified as 49-year-old Shafiq, son of Siddiq, and his 23-year-old nephew Shoaib, son of Zahid. The incident occurred within the limits of the Mauripur police station.

The bodies were retrieved by divers, after which they were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Karachi. Police said the deceased persons were residents of the Sohrab Goth area. In the other incident, 15-year-old Daniyal, son of Javed, drowned in a pond near Mai Kolachi Road within the limits of the Docks police station. He was a resident of the Sultanabad area.

Police said the teenager had gone to the pond with his friends for bathing where he drowned. Further investigations are under way.

Firing incidents

Two people were wounded on Friday in separate incidents of firing in the city. According to police, 45-year-old Zakirullah, son of Sahib Din, was shot and injured in a firing incident in Baldia town. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Police said the man was shot for offering resistance during a mugging bid. A case has been registered. Separately, 26-year-old Salman, son of Fareed, was wounded in a firing incident in Pathan Coony within the jurisdiction of the SITE A Section police station. The injured youth was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said Salman accidentally discharged his gun while he was cleaning his gun. Further investigations are under way.
