Pak athletes lose matches in Asian Taekwondo
ISLAMABAD: Shahzaib went down fighting against local Marek Khalifee in the 54kg category of the Asian Taekwondo Championship underway in Beirut (Lebanon) Wednesday.
Shahzaib lost 14-16 and was leading at one time during the course of the match. Shahzaib earlier defeated Saudi Arabia’s Hamdi 26-14 in the pre-quarterfinals.
Hamar was beaten fair and square by Tajikistan player Mohammad Khwaseen 17-4 in the 68kg category.
Korean athlete Seung Hwan Lee defeated Pakistan’s Taimur Saeed in -87kg by the score of 20-0. In the women’s -46kg category, Syeda Hannah lost by 8-45 points to Azamova from Uzbekistan.
On Thursday in -58 kg category, Haroon Khan of Pakistan will take on Mongolia’s Enkhbayar, +87kg Hamza Omar Saeed will fight against Yoo Min Bea of Korea, whereas Ayesha Noor will clash against Saudi Arabia Rahaf Abdullah in -49kg women category.
