Sindh development expenditures proposed at Rs329 billion
KARACHI: The development expenditure of Sindh province is estimated at Rs329 billion, which includes Rs222.5 billion for provincial annual development program (ADP) and Rs30 billion for districts ADP for the next fiscal year.
Revised estimates of development expenditure of CFY remained at Rs160.3 billion, which were reduced from earlier estimates of Rs232.94 billion. Total development expenditure of Rs329 billion includes Rs222.5 billion of provincial ADP, Rs30 billion district ADP, other
federal grants of Rs5.36 billion and Rs71.16 billion amid foreign project assistance.
Sindh’s ADP included a total of 3,315 development schemes, which include 1,645 on going schemes while 1,670 new schemes have been added in the programme.
Under the ADP for 2021/22, Rs5 billion have been allocated for agriculture sector, Rs26 billion for education, Rs17 billion for irrigation and Rs15.5 billion for health.
Other sectors include Rs35 million for human rights, Rs1.0 billion for minorities affairs, Rs500 million for Auqaf, Zakat and Ushr, Rs50 million for human settlement and Rs5.0 billion for new development initiatives.
Board of Revenue will get Rs175 million, Rs1.5 billion are allocated for Industries and Commerce, Rs2.56 billion for Planning and Development, Rs11 million for Cooperative department, Rs200 million for Information and Rs350 million have been allocated for Population Welfare.
Culture, Tourism, Antiques and Archives will get Rs2.0 billion, Rs500 are allocated for information, science and technology, Rs300 million for the Provincial Assembly, Rs250 million for the Investment and Rs50 million are allocated for the Provincial Ombudsman.
According to the budget books, Rs2.5 billion ADP is sanctioned for Energy, Rs16.5 billion for public health, Rs1.2 billion for environment, Rs100 million for labour, Rs2.3 billion for rehabilitation, Rs256 million for Excise and Taxation, Rs1.5 billion for law and prosecution while Rs3.5 billion have been sanctioned for Services and General Administration department.
During the next financial year, a development budget of Rs500 million will be spent on Finance, Rs10 billion on lining of main canals, Rs100 million on Sindh Revenue Board, Rs300 million on Food, Rs1.8 billion on Livestock and Fisheries, Rs6.0 billion on Social Protection, Rs1.5 billion on Forest and Wildlife, Rs25.5 billion on Local Government and Rs800 million will be spent on Social Welfare.
Government secretariat will get Rs60 million in next financial year in the development budget, Rs7.7 billion are sanctioned for matching allocation, Rs2.8 billion for Sports and Youth Affairs, mega projects for Karachi city will get Rs8.0 billion, Rs980 will go to infrastructure development of Thar Coal, Rs9.0 billion to Home, Rs100 million to Mines
and Mineral Development, Rs8.2 billion will be spent on Transport and Mass Transit while Rs320 million are sanctioned for women development and Rs30 billion for Works and Services.
