Life expectancy increases to 67.3 years in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has shown improvement in health indicators over the last three years. Life expectancy has increased from 66.9 years in 2017 to 67.3 years in 2019, but is still behind in the region and just ahead of Afghanistan.
According to the Pakistan Economic Survey for 2021, socio-economic factors such as health, education, income, employment, etc are closely interlinked with human development indicators. The infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate and population growth rate have decreased during the last three years. Pakistan has shown improvement in health indicators over the last three years. Life expectancy has increased from 66.9 years in 2017 to 67.3 years in 2019, but is still behind in the region. Life expectancy in India is 69.7 years, in Bangladesh 72.6 years, in Sri Lanka 77 years, in China 76.9 years, in Indonesia 71.7 years, in Malaysia 76.2 years and in Afghanistan 64.8 years.
