Small hands at work
More than 12.5 million children in Pakistan are trapped in child labour. It is quite painful to see that a large number of our children are deprived of their childhood. Even though the country has passed a number of laws to prevent child labour, their implementation still remains a challenge for the government. Child labour is a common issue in Pakistan and the main reason behind child labour is abject poverty in the country.
For parents, their children’s monthly income helps them cover their monthly expenses. Many households cannot afford to buy food for their children. How can they pay for their education? It is the responsibility of the government to come up with a plan to put an end to child labour. Our children deserve to live a better life.
