KARACHI: The Sindh government’s Culture Department has said it has issued cheques containing the second instalment of the annual stipend being given to prominent deserving artists, musicians, writers, poets, and craftsmen in the province.
A statement issued on Wednesday quoted Sindh Culture Secretary Ghulam Akbar Laghari as saying that there were 850 members of the fraternities of artists, literary persons and craftsmen, who were the beneficiaries of the stipend programme of Sindh government. The cheques of the first instalment of the stipend programme, each having value Rs30,000, were issued during the month of Ramazan this year.
The cheques of the second instalment of stipend programme have also been sent to the regional offices of the Sindh Culture Department. The beneficiaries of the stipend scheme are advised to collect the cheques from regional offices of the Sindh Culture Department in their respective cities.
