86 test positive for Covid-19 in twin cities

Rawalpindi: The number of patients being tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district is on a decline for the last one-and-a-half months or so however still a good number of patients are being reported from the region hinting that the situation is yet not completely under control.

In the last 24 hours, another 86 patients have been confirmed positive for the illness from the region taking tally to 106,371 though the virus has not claimed any life from ICT or Rawalpindi district.

To date, as many as 1749 confirmed COVID-19 patients have died of the illness from the region. The positivity rate of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district is still over two per cent as 21 new patients have been reported from the district in the last 24 hours after testing of 968 samples.

According to In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid, as many as 466,240 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to individuals in Rawalpindi district so far of which 28,055 are health workers. In the last 24 hours, 21 new patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district taking tally to 24,500 of which 23,213 have achieved cure.

The virus has so far claimed a total of 983 lives from the district where the number of active cases has been recorded as 304 on Wednesday. Only 21 patients belonging to the district were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities and 283 were in home isolation.

In the last 24 hours, another 65 patients have been tested positive for the disease from the federal capital taking tally to 81,871 of which 766 have died of the illness and 78,338 have recovered. The number of active cases of the disease from ICT was recorded as 2,767 on Wednesday.
