A businessman of Karachi has sought help from law enforcement agencies after he came under attack over refusal to pay extortion money to alleged land grabbers.
Sufyan Ahmad said he purchased some agricultural lands in Gharho, a few kilometers from the Dhabeji pumping station. He added that he started working on the lands in January 2021 but he faced a hate campaign that the land grabbers started to evict him.
“The suspects are using even propaganda on an ethnic basis, and terrorists and drug peddling to get him out of the land,” he alleged and sought the help of law enforcement agencies.
Ahmad said that after a court had ordered registering a case against the suspects, an FIR (No. 9/21) was lodged against Rajab Magsi and other suspects at the Gharo police station.
However, he said, the suspects went into hiding and sought bail, which was granted to them. “Now the suspects are demanding a huge amount as extortion money and also warning him of dire consequences,” he alleged.
The complainant further said that the suspects, who had already been released on bail, carried out a deadly attack on him and his companions, namely Waqar Khalifo and Jamil Baloch, on March 23, wounding two persons critically.
Later, police registered another FIR (No. 17/21).
Police said they had conducted several raids to nab the suspects, but the suspects had gone into hiding.
