15 helpline receives 1,385,410 hoax calls

LAHORE:Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) released the statistics of calls received on emergency helpline 15 from Punjab including Lahore for the month of May here on Thursday.

According to details, the 15 Emergency Helpline received 22,61,432 calls, out of which 1,385,410 calls were considered hoax/irrelevant and 1,71,787 calls with genuine concerns. 79,758 of the calls received sought information, consultancy and 7,693 calls for traffic management & city traffic police help.

The PSCA Lost and Found Centre also set its mark high this month contributing to the recovery of nine missing persons, 156 motorbikes, six rickshaws and two cars through it. The spokesperson requested the citizens to contact 15 helpline in case of any emergency or to report illegal activity in the city.

917 drug peddlers arrested in May: Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations Wing) Lahore Sajid Kiani said that Lahore Police has been implementing on Zero Tolerance policy against the criminals particularly drug peddlers who try to make our youth a victim of narcotics.

Lahore Police will deal with these anti-social elements with iron hands. Lahore Police arrested 917 drug peddlers and registered 911 FIRs in different Police Stations during the month of May. Sajid Kiani had directed all Divisional SPs, DSPs and SHOs to initiate grand operations against the criminals particularly drug peddlers involved in selling narcotics around educational institutions.

Accordingly, Lahore Police also recovered 09kg and 717grm heroin, more than 344kg charas, 01kg and 859grm ice, more than 02kg opium and 9728 liters of liquor from the arrested criminals. City Division Police registered 179 FIRs where as Cantt Division 209, Civil Lines 103, Sadar 174, Iqbal Town 117 and Model Town Division registered 129 FIRs during the operation. DIG Operations Lahore Sajid Kiani said that citizens should also cooperate fully with Lahore Police to eliminate the menace of narcotics from our society.
