48 more die from coronavirus
LAHORE:Around 48 COVID-19 patients died and 432 new positive cases were confirmed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.
According to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) report issued Thursday, the death toll reached 10,132 in Punjab, while confirmed cases became 340,988 in the province. After 10,132 fatalities and recovery of a total of 314,240 patients, 16,616 active cases still remain, who are either isolated at homes or under treatment in health facilities.
983 corona patients recover in 24 hours: Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED), Punjab, has said around 294,798 corona patients have recovered in public sector hospitals while 983 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.
In a press statement issued here on Thursday, SHC&MED Secretary Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan said 7,566 beds were reserved in all government hospitals for corona patients, out of which 5,937 beds were unoccupied. Likewise, 1,640 beds were reserved in government hospitals of the provincial metropolis and 1,271 beds were vacant so far. SHC&MED secretary said in view of the surging corona pandemic, the department had arranged 3,354 beds in isolation wards of all government hospitals in the province, out of which, 2,881 beds were vacant.
However, 429 beds for corona patients are reserved in isolation wards set up in government hospitals of Lahore and 371 beds are unoccupied. In addition, 3,423 beds are also reserved in HDU for patients suffering from Covid-19 in all the hospitals of Punjab government and 2,233 beds are vacant while, in hospitals of Lahore, 927 beds were reserved in HDU and 723 beds are unoccupied, Nabeel Awan added.
PMOs promoted: The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED), Punjab, has posted 72 Principal Medical Officers (BS-20), newly-promoted on regular basis, in different hospitals in Punjab with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, two retired APMOs (BS-19), upon their promotion as PMOs (BS-20) on regular basis under section 8(7) of Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974, have been posted for actualisation of their promotion, one day before their retirement in Mayo Hospital, Lahore, and Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur. The P&SHD had placed these newly-promoted PMOs at the disposal of SHC&MED, according to a notification issued here Thursday.
