Defaming institutions: Javed Latif’s judicial remand extended by 9 days
LAHORE: A magisterial court on Wednesday extended by nine days the judicial remand of PML-N MNA Javed Latif, an accused of defaming state institutions and inciting people against the state.
Javed was arrested after his pre-arrest bail was cancelled by Sessions court. The jail authorities produced him before the court of a judicial magistrate.
As the hearing commenced the judge asked about the challan of the case to which the jail officials informed the court that it is a matter of investigation. Then the judge, while addressing Javed Latif, said that he wanted to say anything. To which Javed replied that the factories which are distributing certificates of treason should be shut down. “To point out wrongdoing of institutions is not an act of treason”, Javed added. He further said that he has taken oath of guarding the institutions and country and he will keep on doing so.
