Sindh govt doing ‘dirty politics’ over water, alleges Kamal

Despite receiving 36,370 million gallons of water, the Pakistan Peoples Party’s biased government provides only 540 million gallons of water to Karachi, a city with 50 per cent of Sindh’s population, said Syed Mustafa Kamal, chairman of the Pak Sarzameen Party on Wednesday.

He said the total water being supplied to Karachi barely constituted1.5 per cent of Sindh’s total water, yet the PPP’s prejudiced and tyrant government became breathless when providing even 1.5 per cent to the city.

“The PPP, which holds a doctorate in blatantly deceiving the public, lamented the shortfall of the water quota in the media, while the Indus River System Authority’s recent report exposed the PPP’s drama,” said Kamal, addressing to a meeting of the party’s office-bearers in District Central.

Irsa’s report said that after calculating the water flow at different barrages of Sindh, water was being supplied to the province as per its due quota, but the Sindh government was doing dirty politics on even water, which was the basic human need for survival, said Kamal.

“Instead of supplying water to the entire Sindh, it is providing water to the fields of ruling families, members of parliament, PPP feudal lords and waderas, so that only their crops yield maximum outcomes, whereas the standing corps of anti-PPP farmers are getting destroyed due to unavailability of water.”

Due to the discriminatory attitude of the PPP-led provincial government, there was a fear of another wheat crisis in Sindh in the near future, which would once again benefit the corrupt and tyrannical rulers of the PPP, he said. “The entire responsibility for the wheat crisis will fall on the PPP alone.”

“The PSP will not remain silent on this oppression. If any political party can save Sindh from the oppression of PPP, it is none other than the PSP,” he said.
